"When you stop comparing yourself to others, you can accomplish great things," says wheelchair athlete Dean Furness



Dean Furness is a data and analytics professional. An accident in 2011 left him as a paraplegic without the use of his legs, In that Accident simply broke a bone or two in his leg. and in the process He was told He had probably never walk again, because his abdominal muscles no longer work. He use a board slide out of bed into a wheelchair. His  entire personal average had been reset. So He found his self comparing what he thought he was goin to be able to do going forward with what he once was able to do. And that took some very consistent prodding from his wife, who kept saying "Get your eyes up" Before you could get moving forward. 


Few weeks later,, He was transferred to a specialty spinal cord rehab hospital and first day in rehab and first session had something called fit class, but after several years of rehabilitation, hard work and encouragement from his physical therapist, he competed as a wheelchair athlete in both the Chicago and Boston Marathons.
